PREPARING OUR HEARTS
CONFESSIONThe confession is said privately. The audio file begins after confession.
(I am working on bringing back the confessional rite options.)Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you
in thought, word, and deed,
by what we have done,
and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart;
we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
have mercy on us and forgive us;
that we may delight in your will,
and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your Name. Amen.A brief silence is kept
Grant your faithful people, merciful Lord, pardon and peace; that we may be cleansed from all our sins, and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
LISTENING TO GOD’S WORD
O = Officiant
A = All
O | Lord, open our lips. |
A | And our mouth shall proclaim your praise. |
O | O God, make speed to save us. |
A | O Lord, make haste to help us. |
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. |
The Invitatory
Venite O come, let us sing to the Lord;* For the Lord is a great God,* O come, let us worship and bow down,* O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness;* |
Psalter
The appointed Psalm is read together
Psalm 130 Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD! *
O LORD, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication! If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, *
O Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness, *
that you may be feared.
I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, *
and in his word I put my hope;
My soul waits for the Lord *
more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning. O Israel, hope in the LORD! *
For with the LORD there is steadfast love,
with him there is plentiful redemption. *
and he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

O | Lord, have mercy |
A | Christ, have mercy |
Lord, have mercy | |
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. |
O | God of all creation, full of love and abounding in mercy; |
A | May the whole earth be filled with your glory. |
O | Lord, bless and guide all ministers of your church; |
A | Clothe them in righteousness and grant them wisdom. |
O | Direct the leaders of our nation; |
A | That they may act in accordance with your kingdom. |
O | Enlarge our own hearts, O Lord, |
A | To love the things that you love |
O | May we proclaim your light |
A | In every place where there is darkness. |
O | May we proclaim your Holy Name |
A | In every aspect of our lives. |
O | Create in us clean hearts, O God; |
A | And take not your Holy Spirit from us. |
O | Grant us your peace; |
A | For only in you can we live in safety. |
O | We pray for those in sickness, grief, persecution, bondage, fear, or loneliness. |
A | Lord, have mercy. |
O | Let us offer our own prayers. |

Suffrages from The Trinity Mission Daily Prayers for Individuals & Families |
Almighty and merciful God, it is only by your gift that your faithful people offer you true and laudable service: Grant that we may run without stumbling to obtain your heavenly promises; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. |
Almighty God, whose most dear Son went not up to joy but first he suffered pain, and entered not into glory before he was crucified: Mercifully grant that we, walking in the way of the cross, may find it none other than the way of life and peace; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. Amen. |
Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all whom you have made. We bless you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for your immeasurable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up our selves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages. Amen. |
O | Let us bless the Lord. |
A | Thanks be to God. |
O | The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all evermore. Amen. 2 Corinthians 13:14 |
