Confession

Most merciful God,

we confess that we have sinned against you

in thought, word, and deed,

by what we have done,

and by what we have left undone.

We have not loved you with our whole heart;

we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.

We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.

For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,

have mercy on us and forgive us;

that we may delight in your will,

and walk in your ways,

to the glory of your Name. Amen.

O come, let us sing to the Lord;*
let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.

and the heights of the hills are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it,*

The transgression of the wicked speaks deep in his heart; *
there is no fear of God before his eyes.
For he flatters himself in his own eyes *
that his iniquity will not be found out and be hated.
The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; *
he has ceased to act wisely and to do good.
He plots wickedness while on his bed; *
he sets himself on a way that is not good;
he does not reject evil.
Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, *
your faithfulness to the clouds.
Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains;
your judgments like the great deep; *
O LORD, you preserve both man and beast.
How precious is your steadfast love, O God. *
The children of man take refuge in the shadow of your wings.

Isaiah 62


62   For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent,
    and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not be quiet,
  until her righteousness goes forth as brightness,
    and her salvation as a burning torch.
2   The nations shall see your righteousness,
    and all the kings your glory,
  and you shall be called by a new name
    that the mouth of the LORD will give.
3   You shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of the LORD,
    and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.
4   You shall no more be termed Forsaken,
    and your land shall no more be termed Desolate,
  but you shall be called My Delight Is in Her,
    and your land Married;
  for the LORD delights in you,
    and your land shall be married.
5   For as a young man marries a young woman,
    so shall your sons marry you,
  and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride,
    so shall your God rejoice over you.


6   On your walls, O Jerusalem,
    I have set watchmen;
  all the day and all the night

Luke 1: 68-79

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;*
he has come to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty savior,*
born of the house of his servant David.
Through his holy prophets he promised of old,
that he would save us from our enemies,*
from the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fathers*
and to remember his holy covenant.
This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham,*

Colossians 2:6–15

6 Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, 7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. 11 In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. The Creed

 

I believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, visible and invisible.

 

I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only-begotten Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

 

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father,

I acknowledge one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

I look for the resurrection of the dead,
