|Officiant||O God, make speed to save us.|
|All||O Lord, make haste to help us.|
|Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.|
50 The Mighty One, God the LORD,
O LORD, God of vengeance, *
O God who avenges, shine forth.
Rise up, O judge of the earth; *
render to the proud what they deserve.
How long shall the wicked, O LORD, *
how long shall the wicked triumph?
They pour out arrogant words; *
all the workers of evil boast.
They crush your people, O LORD, *
and afflict your inheritance.
They kill the widow and the sojourner, *
and murder the fatherless;
they say, “The LORD does not see; *
the God of Jacob does not notice.”
Take heed, you dullest of the people. *
you fools, when will you be wise?
He who planted the ear, does he not hear
He who formed the eye, does he not see? *
He who disciplines the nations, will he not rebuke?
He who teaches man knowledge—
the LORD—knows the thoughts of man, *
that they are but a breath.
Blessed is the man whom you discipline, O LORD, *
the one you teach out of your law,
that you may give him rest from the days of trouble, *
until a pit is dug for the wicked.
For the LORD will not forsake his people; *
he will not abandon his inheritance;
for judgment will return to righteousness, *
and all the upright in heart will follow it.
Who will rise up for me against the wicked? *
Who will take a stand for me against the workers of evil?
If the LORD had not been my help, *
my soul would have soon lived in the land of silence.
If I say, “My foot is slipping,” *
your steadfast love, O LORD, will hold me up.
When the cares of my heart are many, *
your consolations cheer my soul.
Can wicked rulers be allied with you, *
those who frame injustice by statute?
They gather together against the life of the righteous *
and condemn the innocent to death.
But the LORD is my stronghold, *
and my God the rock of my refuge.
He will turn back on them their iniquity
and wipe them out in their own wickedness; *
the LORD our God will wipe them out.Composite
|All||Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.|
The LessonsThe Lessons for Wednesday
|They have no knowledge who carry about their wooden idols, and keep on praying to a god that cannot save. There is no other god besides me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none besides me. “Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. By myself I have sworn; the word has gone out from my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, that to me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear allegiance."|
|For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly desires, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all lawlessness and purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.|
|Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, upholding the universe by the word of his power.|
Please pause the service if you would like more time.
|Officiant||Lord, have mercy|
|All||Christ, have mercy|
|Lord, have mercy|
|All||Our Father, who art in heaven,|
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.
|Officiant||Lord, hear our prayer|
|All||And let our cry come to you.|
|O||Let us bless the Lord.|
|A||Thanks be to God.|
|O||The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all evermore. Amen. |
