The Lessons for Wednesday
|They have no knowledge who carry about their wooden idols, and keep on praying to a god that cannot save. There is no other god besides me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none besides me. “Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. By myself I have sworn; the word has gone out from my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, that to me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear allegiance.”
|For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly desires, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all lawlessness and purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.
|Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, upholding the universe by the word of his power.
A brief silence is kept after the readings.
Please pause the service if you would like more time.
|Officiant||Lord, have mercy|
|All||Christ, have mercy|
|Lord, have mercy|
|All||Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.
|Officiant||Lord, hear our prayer|
|All||And let our cry come to you.|
Silence is kept and free intercessions or petitions may be offered
The Officiant concludes
|Heavenly Father, send your Holy Spirit into our hearts, to direct and rule us according to your will, to comfort us in all our afflictions, to defend us from all error, and to lead us into all truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.|
|O||Let us bless the Lord.|
|A||Thanks be to God.|
|O||The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all evermore. Amen.
