Mid-Day Prayer
Led by Fr. Michael Thorne Jarrett
Psalm 46
Psalm 65
Psalm 146
Officiant | O God, make speed to save us. |
All | O Lord, make haste to help us. |
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. |
The following Psalms are read
Psalm 46
God is our refuge and strength, *
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be moved, *
though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea,
Though its waters roar and foam, *
though the mountains tremble at its surging.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, *
the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her; she will not be moved; *
God will help her when morning dawns.
The nations rage, the kingdoms fall; *
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
The LORD of hosts is with us; *
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Come, behold the works of the LORD, *
what desolations he has brought on the earth.
He makes wars to cease throughout the earth; *
he breaks the bow and shatters the spear,
and burns the chariots with fire. “Be still, and know that I am God; *
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!” The LORD of hosts is with us; *
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Composite Psalm 65
Psalm 146
Praise the LORD! *
Praise the LORD, O my soul!
I will praise the LORD as long as I live; *
I will sing praise to my God while I have any being.
Put not your trust in princes, *
nor in any son of man, in whom there is no salvation.
When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; *
on that very day his plans shall perish.
Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, *
whose hope is in the LORD his God,
the maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; *
who keeps faith forever;
who executes justice for the oppressed, *
who gives food to the hungry.
The LORD sets the prisoners free; *
the LORD opens the eyes of the blind.
The LORD lifts up those who are bowed down; *
the LORD loves the righteous.
The LORD watches over the foreigner; *
he sustains the widow and the fatherless,
but the way of the wicked he will utterly remove. The LORD will reign forever, *
your God, O Zion, throughout all generations.

The Lessons
The Lessons for Saturday
From the rising of the sun to its setting my Name shall be great among the nations, and in every place incense shall be offered to my Name, and a pure offering; for my Name shall be great among the nations, says the LORD of hosts. Malachi 1:11 |

I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:1-2 |

|
As obedient children, do not be conformed to the lusts of your former ignorance, but just as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct. For you know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ. He indeed was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. 1 Peter 1:14-15,18-20 |
A brief silence is kept after the readings.
Please pause the service if you would like more time.
THE PRAYERS
Officiant | Lord, have mercy |
All | Christ, have mercy |
Lord, have mercy | |
All | Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. |
Officiant | Lord, hear our prayer |
All | And let our cry come to you. |
Silence is kept and free intercessions or petitions may be offered
The Officiant concludes
Heavenly Father, send your Holy Spirit into our hearts, to direct and rule us according to your will, to comfort us in all our afflictions, to defend us from all error, and to lead us into all truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. |
O | Let us bless the Lord. |
A | Thanks be to God. |
O | The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all evermore. Amen. 2 Corinthians 13:14 |
